This picturesque field has been a cherished part of the community for more than 100 years, serving as a hub for sports and recreation. From thrilling games of football to the timeless elegance of cricket and Tennis, this field has seen countless moments of passion, perseverance, and triumph.
During the war years, the field found a creative way to continue serving the community, with sheep grazing the grass with the cricket square carefully roped off. The Sportsground Management Committee has been overseeing the care and maintenance of this field for over 50 years! Their dedication and hard work have made this field a true symbol of teamwork and community spirit.
The Sportsground Management Committee has been overseeing the field for more than 50 years, possibly dating back to 1946-47. In the early days, the Borough Council used to cut the grass once a week.
This field remains a beloved gathering place for generations to come.
In 1967, the Sandringham Estate Manager Julian Lloyd and the Duke of Edinburgh worked together to open the pavilion. The structure was built by Minns Brothers according to the plans of Sedgeford Changing Rooms.
It was heart warming to see the majority of the funds for this project being donated by the kind-hearted people of the village.
In 1970, the Sports Ground Management committee (SGM) had football delegates like Roger Nurse, John Bunn, and Reg Houchen. Their contributions are a touching reminder of how each one of us has the power to make a difference. Together, we can achieve great things and bring about positive change in our community.
Over the years, the club has grown in size and popularity, facing challenges and overcoming them with the help of its supportive members and Committee.
A second under lease agreement with Dersingham Parish Council was signed in 2013, but it was backdated to 2010. The Sandringham Estate Manager at the time was Marcus O'Lone, and the under lease was signed by Richard Southgate, Roger Poll, Barry Hopkins and Adam Seal.

Dersingham Rovers Football Club has come a long way from when they were first formed.
By the 1990-91 season, the playing area of the field had been extended to the bottom dyke, providing three pitches for football. this was achieved with the help of volunteers doing the drainage work. The club had four men's football teams, and the minors teams were expanding.
Despite the challenges faced, the club's leadership rose to the occasion and signed the first under lease with Dersingham Parish Council for 20 years in 1991. The club continued to thrive, and in 2013, signed a second under lease agreement with Dersingham Parish Council, which was backdated to 2010.
Throughout its journey, Dersingham Rovers Football Club has shown resilience, dedication and the spirit of teamwork. The club's unwavering support for its members has been a source of inspiration for all.
John Bunn sadly passed away on 19th October aged 74 years.
John is well known as our award-winning groundsman but many might not realise he also played football for the Rovers in his younger days and was a committee member for both the football and sports ground.
John had been a key part of the football club for 59 years serving on the committee in many positions and mostly as groundsman, which not only entailed grass cutting, rolling and filling in divots but also collecting and getting rid of litter, small maintenance jobs at the pavilion and pre-season preparation, in fact any job that needed doing! He spent many hours at the ground including time cheering his children and grandchildren when they played football and cricket.
His dedication to the grounds at The Pastures won him the Norfolk Football Association Groundsman of the Years 2006/2007 and 2008/2009.
A minute silence was held by the First Team and the Reserves on Saturday 20th October and by the U16 Youth on Sunday 21st October.
R.I.P. John you are sorely missed and our thoughts are with your family at this sad time.
